In this piece, I decided to flush set the diamond on the back, as a hidden treasure reserved only for the wearer. In our culture of opulent and often distasteful displays of wealth, I liked the idea of keeping the diamond as a gift to be enjoyed by the wearer, a little treasure hidden behind the more obviously colourful displays of the front moonstone.

We seem to live in a time that values the showy displays of material wealth and status. Social media conjures images of flashy cars, athletic bodies and opulent lifestyles. We worship the extrovert; we praise the confident, bold and outspoken. We put our trust in the charismatic, big-talker and often interpret these characteristics as an indication of authenticity.

Yet we devalue the art of the refrained and distrust the inner world of the reticent. Those who are humble in appearance and who prioritise the beautiful rather than the ‘on trend’. Those who are pursuing their own inner vision of creativity, growth and mastery; one that focuses on truth and wisdom rather than status and validation. Our culture’s focus on the material draws us away from this pure pursuit and traps us within self-perpetuating cycles of accumulation and dissatisfaction.

In silence and quietude, we are often able to find great gifts. Inner experiences that can't be communicated via Instagram posts or shouted from the rooftops in bold assertions. We can find moments of contentment, creative vision and surrender. They are experiences that can’t be sold and in a world of continuous commodification, we need more aspects of ourselves that can’t be sold. This piece is a celebration of those parts of ourselves that we cultivate quietly; the inner knowing, the transcendental and the free.
